APRIL FOOLS DAY

Where did April Fools Day come from?

I was reading in LDS Living magazine and this is what it said:

It is believed that April Fools' Day began in 1582 when King Charles IX reformed the calendar year to the Gregorian calendar. Holidays were changed, including New Years Day, which changed from April 1 to January 1.

News traveled slowly in the 16th century and not everyone was aware of the calendar change. As more people learned of the new date, those who celebrated the old New Year were teased and considered fools for not being "in the know." People would make fake party invitations and send them to those who did not know that April 1 was no longer New Year's Day, and they would show up at nonexistent party-hence the term "fool's errand."

Other pranks were played on those who celebrated the April 1 New Year until it eventually became a prankster's holiday.
My best April Fools prank was when we found out we were pregnant with Sadie. We have been trying to get pregnant for about 2+ years. We found out that we were finally pregnant the day before, and waited to tell everyone on April 1st. I called my Mom and Dad to tell them, it took just a little convincing and then Blaine would call and tell them "April Fools" this happened two or three time during the day. We also called other people and did the same thing. My Mom had to call the next day to see if we really were pregnant.

Also, when Katlyn was little I called Blaine and told him she rolled off the the bed and I thought her arm was broken. He was not very happy when he found out that it was April Fool's Day.

Today Sadie went to school with her arm wrapped up and in a sling. She saw Heidi in the hall and Heidi asked her what happened? Sadie told her that she fell off the trampoline, there was snow on it and she slipped under the net. Heidi called me on her way home from the school and asked me what happened? Sorry Heidi, but Sadie got you good!

Katlyn made some special "oreo cookies" for her friends, she took the middles out and put toothpaste in the middle instead. Her one friend spit it out on the floor.
